We at Shines Children foundation believe that if you are going to address healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment, or human rights, there’s no better place to start other than in the corridors of education.
We support orphans and most vulnerable children to access basic education through the provision of scholastic materials, sponsorship programming, and provision of clothing. SCF believes that through education support these children can be equipped with skills that will enable them to live meaningful lives while preparing for their future as Nelson Mandela puts it clear that “ Education is the most powerful weapon that can be used to change the world’’.
SCF runs a pre-primary and primary school for orphans and vulnerable children, where needy children access education. We also support formal and informal education (including literacy) to specially targeted groups, like young mothers and their guardians, including providing needed educational materials.
Shines Children’s Foundation promotes transformative reading/literacy. Without the ability to read what the teacher has written on the chalkboard or write in their books, the long-term effects of not being able to read have far-reaching effects. Therefore to help improve on this, we participate in advocacy days like the DEAR day and book week which are globally marked on the calendar to promote the reading culture of children and sustain independent reading.
You can also support a child or children by enabling them to access the following items.
- School Uniform, clothes, backpacks and shoes
- School supplies: Textbooks, pens, pencils
- School expenses: School fees, teachers, transport
- Library: Reading material for children
