Availability of access to water, sanitation, and hygiene services is fundamental in fighting the virus that causes germs and preserving the health and wellbeing of millions of people. Therefore in reference to Goal 6 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 6) of ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. It is a comprehensive goal that addresses the entire water cycle from access to use and efficiency and integrated management of water sources. Still, to note, safe WASH is not only a prerequisite to health, but contributes to livelihoods, school attendance, and dignity and helps to create resilient communities living in a healthy environment.

Therefore in achieving access to adequate and equitable sanitation, prevent water shortage, and end open defecation, SCF is committed to achieving equitable access to adequate WASH services for the people they serve through promoting hand hygiene for all, construction of tippy- taps, drilling, and rehabilitation of boreholes to ensure availability and quick access of water for use.

SCF constructed a water harvesting tank that provides access to clean and safe drinking water for all learners, the staff at shines school, and the surrounding community.

Children at shines children’s foundation frequently receive lessons pertaining to general health such as sanitation and hygiene and other health-related challenges. Drinking unsafe water impairs health through illness such as diarrhea and untreated excreta contaminates ground waters and surface waters used for drinking, irrigation bathing, and household purposes. Whereas chemical contamination of water continues to pose a health burden whether natural in origin, safe and sufficient WASH plays a key role in preventing numerous non Communicable Diseases.
